The Association of Young French Bioinformaticians (JeBiF) was founded in 2008 on the initiative of a group of bioinformaticians coming from the private and academic sectors. The association represents a national entity allowing for the gathering of young actors evolving in bioinformatics. JeBif is associated to the Student Council of the International Society of Computational Biology (ISCB) as the Regional Student Group (RSG) for France and has therefore an international reach.
JeBif has several specific medium-term goals :
- To gather a significant amount of people engaged in bioinformatics in France in order to create an active community which is national and international in scope.
- To stimulate local and national synergies by favouring the setting up of collaborative projects between public research and private entities and by encouraging partnerships among its members to develop scientific activities.
- To promote internationally the French community of bioinformaticians to the public and private institutions.
- To defend and promote the PhD degree (notably among the Confederation of Young Researchers).
Beyond the administrative board members, our project evolves with the help of young motivated persons and we hope this way to contribute to the development of a dynamic community in the field of bioinformatics.
