Montpellier (JOBIM 2010)

A l’occasion de JOBIM 2010 à Montpellier, JeBiF organise une journée satellite sur le thème : Débuter une carrière en bioinformatique 6 septembre 2010, salle 106 du campus SupAgro (là où a lieu JOBIM). Comment choisir son laboratoire de thèse ? Comment trouver un postdoc ? Partir aux Etats-Unis ou pas ? Est-ce possible de travailler dans le privé avec une formation en bioinformatique ? Y a-t-il des postes en bioinformatique dans le secteur académique ? Un début de carrière en bioinformatique est souvent source de nombreuses questions. L’objectif de cette journée satellite est de regrouper toutes les personnes intéressées par ces questions, pour les poser ou y répondre, et de les discuter tous ensembles sous la forme de différentes tables rondes. Nous fournissons quelques éléments de confort indispensables (pizza et boisson). Au programme : détente et discussion libre. JeBif organizes a one day event right after JOBIM 2010 at Montpellier, focusing on the following topic :  Start a career plan in bioinformatics September 6th 2010, room 106 on SupAgro campus (where JOBIM takes place). How to choose a laboratory for a Doctoral Thesis (PhD) ? How to find a postdoc ? Thoughts about moving to the United States ? Is it possible to work in private companies with a bioinformatics training ? What are the positions available in academic sector ? Starting a career in bioinformatics often leads to many questions. The goal of this event is to gather those who feel concerned by all these questions and discuss them altogether in round tables manner, trying our best to provide answers, insight and advice. Come to relax and prepare for the Jobim conference at Fitzpatrick, an Irish pub situated downtown at Montpellier (5 Place Saint Côme). The party will take place on Monday, September 6 from 7 to 10 P.M. We’ll bring some food (pizza very likely) and drinks. Program : chilled out and free discussions, chitchat about anything.
